BeMine

Valentine!
I know I shared these pillows I made for Halloween
and Christmas out of burlap (cuz I love me some colorful burlap)
So of course because I have an abundance of burlap
I decided to try again and make some for
VALENTINES day
and here she is

do you like it?
I used some super large stamps I have and some red paint
and used hot pink thread to sew the puppy up.
I have a few more that I am making up for the holiday
to add to my ebay store....hey and maybe some for
Easter too...gosh can't go wrong with quick sew & super cute
right?

HandMade Embellies

I am a scrapbooker at heart and believe
whole heartedly that one should record everyday moments.
I sometimes buy way to much "stuff" especially stickers
and flowers/ embellishments as they are called...
but this time I decided to make my own...
super simple actually...I bought this set of glue dots
from the dollar store...they are super cool in that they
don't come on a roll- they are each on their own square
12 per sheet - I thought HMMM...totally marketable
right?
So I got out my punches and flowers and played around a bit
and here is what I came up with...

Neat right?
Can you see the possibilities?
LOVE it...

O.k. well I am listing these in my ebay shop in case you just
have to have these...wink & smile
Have a great day!

Project Life week 4

Note To SELF: Let it go...keep it SIMPLE
so in honor of that idea
here is last weeks page...
yeah not really fond of it but it captures my week.
Spent the weekend with my dad and pretty much everyday
is filled with my little boy singing, dressing up and dancing, watching you tube videos all about MICHAEL JACKSON...it's cute but
all week....argh!!!
Anyway I would love to see your project life pages...

Have a great weekend.

Birthday Love

I found the sweetest stamps recently at the HOBBY LOBBY
nearest me...and just fell in LOVE with the simplicity of them.
I used this first set to make a fun & colorful
BIRTHDAY card...

I gotta tell you I am really loving this color combo
it's different. Orange, pink & lime green - cool!

Now to find someone to give it too.

I gotta work on a card for my brother - his birthday is
Monday - so I need to get crackin and try and make something
MANLY...sounds silly.

Well if it is your birthday today, tomorrow or this weekend.
Happy Birthday to you.

Easy up-do

no not your HAIR...
Valentines day is one of those holidays that I don't have a box filled
with decorations that I take out and put out every year.
I kind of wing it and make NEW stuff each year...but this year I wanted
to start making some "YEARLY" decorations...
so here is my first up-do - {re-do}
I bought these frosted glass votives at a yard sale for 50 cents each and they were
nice enough as they were but I decided to add some paint
and a little LOVE to them

here is what I started out with:
vases - MS red paint for glass - sponge dauber - & some punch outs
oh yeah and to make it easier I decided using stickers(the negative)

Here is what came out after I took the negative parts of the stickers off
except for the centers -- see the white goop left from the stickers - don't panic
it comes off pretty easily...at least that what my hubby said (wink& smile)

But hey - for a little bit of effort - here you go a fun set of votives
of which I can keep year after year...

Yeah me - what have you been up to?
Leave me a comment and I will come by and visit you...

Pure Sweetness

sometimes it's the littlest bit of sunshine that really makes my whole day worth it.
what makes things even better are when those rays of sunshine are from strangers
people that are my blogging neighbors...you think that you have to physically know someone
to really connect, but then you meet cool fellow bloggers that you
connect with - without even ever meeting face to face...
Recently I met a wonderful blogger with a really cool blog
just a normal comment left and now we kind of keep in touch via comments..
just the basics that all us bloggers do...

well today she gave me a fun award

sweet right?

so there are a bunch of rules and I truly could never pick JUST 15 people that deserve this award
but please know that all you that stop by my blog - regulars or new I GIVE this award to you
it's because of your versatility that I continue to visit you and leave comments...

Thank you Jeanna for the award - you rock!

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Playing with Paper #2

I LOVE to play with paper and I especially LOVE to play on days like today.
It's rainy & cold out and I am snuggled up indoors in front of the fire - cutting and
pasting and making pretty things...

Here is my second project - along the lines of the first project
yes a banner..sorry but I am feeling those right now.

Here is what I started with and I used my CRICUT
(I know - it has been used more in the last few weeks than ever before)
these pieces are actually cut using my XL sizzix pennant die all these pieces are part of the die...
cool right & easy!
I then used my cricut and cut out these letters from my new
cherry limeade cartridge and I even went so far as to cut it's silhouette...
watch out - I am on a roll.

the pennants come with holes in the corners so it was all easy to string.
My banner reads SWEET VALENTINE

here is an UP CLOSE shot the letter mats are in black so it gives just the slightest
definition - I guess when you take the time to do something right it always looks alot better
then if you only did a little ---

I can't wait to share my easy and quick mantel re-do tomorrow...
dollar items and my fun banner - can't get cheaper and cuter...

Playing with PAPER

part 1:
I love me some scrapbooking papers. I have a small hoard of papers and tons of left over scraps from cards & Layouts that I just can't part with so I decided to lay around and made some fun projects that you can make really quick and they are all perfectly done in time for the Valentine Holiday coming up.

I will be doing this in parts so today is part 1 - one:

this is pretty easy - I had a bunch of fun left over scraps of paper by Cosmo Cricket
The Chemistry line and it is double sided which is in MY opinion the best paper to use that way
it doesn't matter which way the heart falls you will still have something fun to look at.

So just take any heart punch and just punch out a bunch of hearts from your paper then
just sew right through it all. this banner is about 6 feet long and is draped over my hutch
but I could see bunches of this in a horizontal line and used as streamers hanging in a door way
or in the kitchen above the diner table -

Just adds a dab of LOVELY in small areas - pure sweetness.

Stay tunes for Part 2 tomorrow...

5 Reasons...

I LOVE YOU

I love making little scrapbooks and here is one perfect for the upcoming
Holiday---the LOVE day - Feb 14th 2012

I made this using a a keychain style mini album and used some
yummy papers from Cosmo Cricket and some handmade embellishments.
I titled it
TOP 5 REASONS I LOVE YOU

this is the back view
{I added some fun rub-ons}
on each page I used a prima flowers (to match) and a number
circle sticker from JBS to number each "REASON"

I think this would be a great little personal album to give to your
sweetheart or perhaps cute-sy it up for a special little person(your child)

I am listing this in my ebay shop tonight - in case you love it but don't think I can do it!

Project Life - week 2

I have been checking out several different bloggers that are participating
in Project Life 2012 and are taking the simple route and even Becky Higgins says that this is all about
getting back to basics and simple scrapbooking. I realize that I don't have ANY
of the pieces from Becky Higgins and well no real reason other than just
haven't purchased them...but I - being the scrapbooker- that I am DO have
a ton of stuff - so I am improvising and really trying to be about the moment &
the photos...not the stuff...so what do you think?

I added a receipt from John's Incredible Pizza in the upper left corner
and have been adding some CS mats to my photos

lots of journaling on small tags and some smaller
embellishments - but keeping it real simple.

I am doing all my own printing of photos on my home printer.
and lots of my OWN writing...

The other day - I left this out on the couch while I put my son to sleep and my
hubby came home and found my album and told me he read it and thought it was really neat.
He thinks it's cool that I am planning on covering a year week by week.
I think that is approval enough - and quite the compliment from my hubbs...
I believe it is a job well done so far...
LOVE this whole idea.

Guess What?

here's what...
{wink&smile}
with my scrapbooking paper out I decided I would try something fun & new..
so I made this fun little banner

I had really wanted to go with a new baby theme but then I thought the colors
were so very Valentine-y! All I did was use some glue stick to add the paper to the banner
shapes, cut around it and punched my holes for hanging.
Then I used my oval punch and cut out a background for the letters

I cut my letters with my cricut --yeah another attempt at using my tools.
then added my letter with glue stick as well. I hung the banners on some bakers twine
and added some fun prima flowers to different sides of the letters and on each end of the banners
I added some extra ribbons to give it a little poof...

Gotta tell you that I am loving playing with my papers and embellishments.
There are so many fun things I can do with it all. One of which is scrapbooking.
I am happily going back to playing for the sake of playing and what a feeling that leaves me in.

Personal Challenge

I decided to give myself a personal challenge - which I gotta tell you
I am not really good at. I have a hard time keeping to things.
But I know this will make me happy if I can complete it...
I want to try and scrapbook 1 page a week - that's really not much right?
Imagine if I can get a page a week for one year - that'll be 52 new scrapbook pages to
be proud of come Christmas 2012...So here is my first page - that I did last week

This is a page I made from our recent trip to Oregon over Thanksgiving break 2011
I titled it A DREAM REALIZED
because that is where I DREAM of moving in a few years.

I printed my photos in 3 x 5 size so that I could add a bunch of different
snap shots from our trip...

A little bit of all the different things we did - which I have embedded in my mind
and are things I look forward to living by someday.  I love a page with lots of photos.
But I gotta tell you sometimes one PERFECT photo can be enough too....

O.k. week 1 done...

from ordinary

to NOT so ordinary...
Before Christmas a friend of mine had asked me to make her some plain sachets out of muslin & burlap - and well I finally got them to her last week. She was thrilled...not sure why but
maybe it was because of the way I had them wrapped..Cute right?

Made them in a 4 x 4 square and left the seams on the outside
Here is the muslin one and i think I may make a bunch of these up and put them
in my etsy shop. These are nice to scent as you like...something light in color of course.

Being the crafty chica that I am - I kept a few for myself and
decided to pretty dem' up a bit and added some brown satin ribbon and some pink lace.

I like it alot and I can see these all stashed in my drawers making my goodies smell delish!!!!

My friend said she got them scented and used lavender essential oil on the muslin ones
and cedar & patchouli on the burlap ones....sweet and how personal right?

Well, just another idea to try ---
these would make great gifts all stacked up

Here's wishing you a sweet week...

Have a HEART

just a little pun on words...

But since Valentine's Day is just around the corner I thought I would
get a jump start on my crafting and of course hearts came to mind FIRST

I am also on this kick with burlap - it began in December
and I can't make enough with it.

I especially love this key burlap...cool right?
Super quick and easy I sewed up some hearts and left the seam on the
outside then filled'er up with some polyfil
and then the fun part - EMBELLISHING them

Here is the back - secret: I sewed the hole heart then made a slit in the front of the heart
to stuff then I stitched it up close - the BOW covers up the stitching

You can use just about any bits of trim and really go to town with these hearts
I kept them simple - I think I thought the hearts were already too busy with the keys
 to add to much more.

I can see these with some sweet tags and a special little note for someone special
or perhaps just to put up some love in your studio...

These perties measure 7 inches tall from point to top of heart & 5 inches wide...

embracing the camera

I think this is something that we all have trouble with.
I know I am usually the one behind the camera - my choice ALWAYS!
But I would LOVE to be in photos with my family and that is something
I need to work on and I am starting this year...

I am playing along with the anderson crew
& embracing the camera

here are some of my everyday iphone photos...
yes puffing the cheeks is VERY un-sexy!

no pictures please---haha

I'm going to try really hard to get out from behind the crew...more this year, and
be front and center...

I will be linking this up at

PROJECT LIFE

Have you heard of project life? I have and have wanted to play along for some years now
and well this is the year to...DO things differently...so here I go taking the plunge to
try and keep up with this year long journal/scrapbook.

I gotta tell you how this started...I had been thinking about playing along but
truthfully didn't have the money to buy the products from the
BECKY HIGGINS shop so I kind of let that be my decision maker for along while
then on a recent trip to GW...I came upon this brown binder and inside were these fun
photo holders different then any other I had seen and guess what they looked alot the
ones used in project life...so I bought it for 5.99 - score and even better now I could
participate...

gotta tell you that it came in this ugly brown binder and I will
tackle that later but can you see how many photo protectors it came with?
totally a years worth I am sure

here is my first page featuring the first week of January

see how the photo slots are different sizes and directions...LOVE that
and I am thrilled that I can play along this year.

Have a great weekend.

My Word for 2012

Five days late to post but I had my word picked out already...
Have you picked your word for the year yet?
I know there are a gazillion words I could have chosen especially
a word that could have been more socially admired but I needed to
stick with a word that inspired me...and was TRUE to me...
so I chose

This is my journal page I created to represent my WORD...
it says it all - this year I want
to THINK differently than I did last year.
I want to ACT differently than I did last year
I want to BE different than I was last year...
I LOVE me but there are things I want to change or make
better......and that word is DIFFERENT...

I have already started BEing different and watching what I eat and exercising more
and I am working really hard to ACT differently, especially towards my kids
I need to work on having more patience and relax with them more...

I am praying that this year is way DIFFERENT than last year...
Here's wishing you a GREAT year!!!

DA MOJO IS IN DA' HOUSE

love the start of a new year...
the ideas and the plans
the wishes and the dreams! It all seems so incredibly exciting.
I officially started my exercise routine with a good friend of mine...
she is fit and is all about the yoga so we took a 4 mile hike on Sunday (the 1st)
then today we went on a 3 mile run/walk...boy am I sore...but happy.

I feel like my artsy mojo came back and I got on a crafty painting session.
I sat at my desk and made these beauties...
what do you think?

I am feeling pretty proud of these babies...and to prove it to myself
I listed a bunch of my small bits of art in my ebay shop
