Star bangled BANNER

One of my favorite things is decorating for the holidays but it seems some of the smaller holidays
are so quickly over that I just don't get around to getting down my decorations
and putting them up. So I wanted to come up with a super simple and easy,
that I could basically make for each holiday - and would be QUICK>

o.k. so the easy part is if you are card maker or scrapbooker than you probably
have all these items at home already!
You just need a punch, a sewing machine (don't be afraid - just straight stitching)
and paper....

punch a bunch (depending on how long you want your banner) of stars from
preferrably double-sided papers in an americana theme...
and get on your sewing machine and sew right through them---and keep going
until you reach the length you desire...double-sided paper makes it so you can
hang this up anywhere and not worry about which way the stars hang.

then find the perfect place to hang this baby up - I chose my mantel.

I made 2 strands - the longer is 50 stars long and I added a small rosette in the middle
of the strand - just to make it stand out a bit.

I love it and best part is if it gets crushed no big deal...I can make another one next year
and it'l be just as quick...

How are you decorating for the 4th?
I am linking this up to the following challenges:

The 4th

feeling the love for my country today!
Today was so relaxful...we stayed home all day and I was o.k. with it.
I was enjoying being home and just relaxing...I have to admit I normally don't
enjoy sitting around...but I got stuff done, our wash, made breakfast lunch and dinner,
made a few cards, took picutres of stuff to list on ebay and watched THE GLEE PROJECT...
very cool show - so much talent out there.
I gotta admit that by 8 p.m. I needed a small excursion and a breath of fresh air..so
the hubbs took me and the kids to JOGURT - its yummy yogurt and it is FAB!!!

So all in all a great relaxful day spent with the family - it's good to be free.

have a great week

passion for purple

when I was little I loved loved loved PURPLE - it was my favorite color
as was the movie purple rain and because I was also a fan of Prince who emboddied purple back then...
I felt it my duty to be a die hard PURPLE fan.
I have since chosen another favorite color...Green in fact - more of a
chartruese - lime-y green...
But seems that little girls are still in love with purple these days.
I made this simple card for my friends daughter...for her 8th birthday
She loves lavendar...and I think I captured it on this card.

If you have a chane stop by my other blog and see what I made her for
her birthday gift...

Have a refreshing week...
it's hot and humid here in SoCal...

Dear dad

I made this card for my dad - he isn't really into sweetness and softness
so I tried to keep the card real basic and simple. Straight to the point.
I have yet to make one for MY hubby and I haven't decided if I am going to have
my kids make one for him or let them buy one...just depends on how
much time we have.

Lucky for me this card works for the following challenges:
party time tuesdays - fathers day
paper take weekly - dad n' lads
cupcake craft - boy oh boy

Happy Tuesday

Pretty in Pink

I know I have said this before but I think I need to kick up my cardmaking
My cards are so one dimensional! usually pretty flat...and not to much in way
of layout...always the same and getting on my last creative nerve.
I have been clearing out my stamps - because I really want to start making more
sophisticated cards...by that I mean NOT so kid-like!
I just got the newest issue of paper crafts magazine and OMG the
ideas are really flowing....who knew the possibilities -
I did, but can't figure it out on my own obviously.
Well, here is my first attempt at a less childlike card...
I used lots of pinks and a rub-on (which is very child like_ geez...)
But I used a new stamp set by Paper try ink (Doilies and their matching dies) to add
some cute to the card and left it pretty simple
I did follow a sketch - of which I tend to shy away from but this one was easy
it's by Bloggers Challenge (link @ bottom)
Hope you like it.

Have a fabulous Monday!

Lovin' this

Hi there! It has been a little bit...I get into these fights with myself
sometimes about what needs to take priority in my life...
and it's pretty obvious that the blog usually takes the last ticket
in things that have to get done.
Please tell me you feel that way sometimes?
lie to me - lol

I wanted to make a card with some WOW!
and can I just say that I love this!!!!
I am incredibly jazzed about this baby!

This is a wedding card that I wanted to make very shabby style...
I didn't want it to be the typical white on white wedding card.
I think I accomplished this. It's sweet, simple and shabby-ish!

not at all over the top.
I am linking this up to the following challenges:
papercraftstar-wedding or anniversary

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Rockin it Punk style

wanted to share with you this sweet yet oh so punked out paper bag album I made
I adore these paper but gotta admit it's getting harder to find them.

the matching stickers make it so easy to make the album come together

people always comment on how I have such great style and how do I know what
goes with what. But you just gotta get the matching stickers and stick with like
colors and it pretty much comes together on its own.

Cool right?

I think it is
funk-a-licious!
I have it up in my ebay shop if you want it already done for you
link is up at the top left.

Have a great day
I am off to Disneyland with the kiddos.
