Red white and yellow?

Gosh this summer has been supah busy.
I have had so much going on that I have neglected this sweet
blog of mine. I have been crafty just not card making is all.
But I was able to make this wonderful Patriotic card
in red, white and yellow?
Cute image,  a free one I got a week or so ago.
you have actually seen it before...
I made this to work as a gift - the top yellow cs and bear are a book mark.
can you tell?

Lucky for me this card works for several challenges this week:

scrap-creations - AMERICAN
CRAFTY CARD MAKERS - inky fingers (clouds)
crazy challenge - make it in an hour (bookmark)
for fun challenges - patriotic

cool deal eh?\\Have a fantastic week -

huge explosion

I know you have all seen this before but I just
adore these types of scrapbooks.
The explosion part happens when you take off the lid.
BAMMM!!!

With photos inside this baby will lay flat when the lid
is taken off. I have used fun papers from Cosmo Cricket.

The theme of the box is
summer time...
aren't these papers super yummy?

Here is my own personal explosion style scrapbook.
Cute idea huh?

Hope your week has started off wonderfully.
I have vacation fever.
We are leaving for a family vacation on Thursday and I can't wait...so
anxious and have the ants in the pants syndrome
can't wait to lay in the pool all day long.

O.k. have a sweet night.

Scrappy Gift

Happy Sunday folks.
I wanted to take a quick minute to share a couple of scrappy projects I made
for my girlfriends kids - birthday - this weekend.
It was a likety split kind of project using stuff I already had on hand.
I had these large chipboard scalloped squares that I covered in
Crate paper, punched coordinating paper to make the girls names pop
added some chipboard letters I had in my stash
and for EMBELLISHMENTS I used large flowers, buttons and some
paper die cuts from the Crate paper kit,
added seam binding for the hanger and some glitter
(because after all what little girl doesn't like glitter)
and tah-dah..
a perfect gift for 2 little chicks that are as sassy as their mama...

cute eh?

Hope your weekend has been fantastic...mine sure has.

sTITCH wITCHERY

Happy Friday Folks!
EEKKK - I am so in Love with my new extra large SANTA face stamp I bought
at the flea market a few weeks ago.
It seems almost 3-d
O.k. this weeks challenge over at the CSAYL blog was to use stitching on our cards...
faux or real!
I did a little of both.
I stitched around the Santa face and layers behind that
and I added some faux stitching around the main red CS.
Left it really simple since I wanted the face to
stand out.

(better look at my stitching)

Be sure to stop by the
and see what the other OH so taleneted DT members created.
If you have the time why not play along.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Vintage goodness

Good afternoon.
I decided I better get to card making again.
The weekends are usually so busy that I can't
find the time to sit and get crafty!
I have to tell you that this is a sweet card that I am quite fond of.

I "finally" used my tim holtz embossing plates
I used the collage embossing plate for the pink base
I used my 7 gypsies ledger tape
I added prima flowers (my fave embellishment) and Melissa Frances pearls to finish
the pretty off. Best part of it all - My card works for the following challenges:

crazychallenge - all things spotty (polk-a-dot paper)
cupcake craft - strawberries & cream - colors
cuttlebug spot - embossing tags (tim holtz) (missed this one)
paper playtime - bugs, ants - (butterfly, caterpillar)

cool huh?

O.k. well I hope you are all getting your summertime craft on.

Happy Birthday to my BOY

He loves kisses, loves to touch my chest when sitting on my lap, prefers to sleep next to me, his favorite word is "butthead" (i know right), he is the sassiest of the bunch, he has energizer batteries permanently lodged in him, he loves to scratch and bite and he can be sweet when he wants to be. He keeps me on my toes and keeps me yelling but with all that said
I would never trade a moment of my 3 years with him not even for a million bucks.
He makes my life complete...

Happy Birthday kiddo

love you madly

vintage Christmas #54

This week over on the CSAYL blog our challenge was to create
a vintage Christmas card.
Once again I used my trusty Santa stamp and used a bevy
of fun vintage pieces such as
some vintage sheet music, some german scrap trim,
vintage seam binding, a vintage button and some MICA.
It's really cool see through stuff that you can peel and add to your
projects with glue dots. Gotta try it.
For a pop of color I added some fun turquoise prima flowers.
I like it - what do you think?

Please take a minute and check out the CSAYL blog and see
what the other DT members created - some yummy goodness.
Hey and why not play along if you have the time.

Gotta a 3 year old having a circus themed party tomorrow and
sunday we are celebrating our dads...hope you all have a wonderful
weekend.

it's a MAN's world

Hello and good THURSDAY morning to you

With fathers day right around the corner I thought I would make a
sweet card for my little guy to give his daddy.

(this picture was taken 2 years ago)

I have to be honest when I say that it's tough making GUY cards for me.
I feel like adding "FOOF" to my cards and for men well I feel constricted.
I never know what type of embellishments to add.
So for this card I added some string and some stars...I like it
I used an image by Squigglefly and stamped my own
sentiment and used NO DP - weird huh?
but it works...

My card works for the following challenges:
daisy doodles - fathers day card
cupcake craft challenge - one for the boys
stempletraum - no designer paper
the town scrapper-masculine card

I love when I can make a card that satifies a bunch of challenges. Love It!

I hope your day goes off without a hitch.

Sweet and Pale

Good Evening all.
Sometimes sub-dued is so understated.
I love pale colors and I find that I don't use them enough.

So today I decided to make a card that was shabby in color
with a funny little stamped image.
I love the colors I used and the image was colored in with the
palest of Copics I own. I need more of those types of colors.

So my cute pale card works in the following challenges this week:

color chef #55 - cream/muted green & soft blue
the shabby tea room #14 - fun in the sun

Fun stuff...I am going through a cleaning frenzy in my studio
so I will be listing lots of great items in my etsy shops...if
you have a chance check it out.

Have a great night sleep.

If you have the time

Why not listen to this and make a card or two or maybe even 3 and send it to these 2 amazingly brave kids.

Let me tell you about two amazing kids. Ethan & Bella

Ethan is my cousin's son. He is 8 years old .Ethan was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4 on March 5th, 2005. This devastating news came just days after his 3rd Birthday. The doctors told us that Ethan’s overall chance of survival was only 25%. Who would have ever thought that his leg pain and unexplained fever was cancer.

The worst of the worst…a deadly form of cancer where there is no specific treatment meant just for Neuroblastoma. Instead, trial studies and experimentall therapies were in our future.

Ethan underwent 6 rounds of extremely high dose chemotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor in his abdomen, a stem cell transplant and 12 rounds of radiation to the tumor site. This trial study was followed up by an experimentall therapy at Sloan Kettering in New York called 3F8 Antibody Treatment. Ethan received 5 rounds of this treatments before becoming “Hama” positive, which means his immune system is trained to fight neuroblastoma cells.

Today, Ethan is cancer free and is back to enjoying all the childhood fun and games that was taken from him for over a year and a half. Doctors have also increased his overall chance of survival to 50% (considering the high rate of relapse).

UPDATE:

In November 2007, a lump was found on Ethan's left shoulder blade...later to be diagnosed as osteochondroma, a benign tumor growth in the bone. This is in part, a side effect of having Total Body Irritation for his Stem Cell Transplant.

Around June of 2008, several benign tumors were discovered on Ethan's liver.

On Nov. 21, 2008, we found out that Ethan's cancer had returned, Recurrent Neuroblastoma. MIBG uptakes were discovered in one shoulder, his leg, his spine and chest...along with in his bone marrow. There were a total of 12 spots at re-diagnosis

Ethan underwent 2 rounds of high dose chemo followed by a set of scans. The scans showed that the chemo was not acting effectively.

Ethan then underwent one round of maintenance chemo before becoming the first patient in a New England hospital to receive MIBG therapy (aka liquid radiation). The first round was scheduled the week of Ethan's 7th Birthday (feb 17th). Follow up scans show a HUGE improvement, leaving residual uptake on MIBG scan and small traces in the bone marrow. Then Ethan underwent a 2nd round at the beginning of May 2009, scan results show "stable with limited improvement".

At this time, Ethan only had two more spots to take care of. So he underwent more chemotherapyy, using irinotecan, carboplatin and temodar...followed up by a much needed stem cell rescue. Results "stable with no improvement". At that point, we decided to allow Ethan's body to rest and put him on a treatment known for stability called ABT-751 at the beginning of Sept. 2009. However, in November 2009, Ethan's cancer showed 2 new spots of progression and we had to discontinue the use of the ABT-751.

From there, Ethan began a treatment using Temodar and Thalidomide, which consists of taking pills at home...everyday. Also, at this point, I added Harmazone, a form of"Essiac" to Ethan's daily routine. Later, I added the use of a DHA supplement. Thus far, the DHA has proven to rid Ethan of his mood swings and temper tantrums.

After 4 rounds of Thalidomide/Temodar treatment, On March 18, 2010 scan results showed massive "widespread" progression throughout Ethan's entire skeletal system, from his shoulders down his arms, down his spine and chest cavity, to his pelvis, and down his legs, right down to his ankles.

We then decided to try out a new phase 1 protocol using both IV and oral cyclophosphomide, with Avastin and Zometa. This treatment is primarily used for bone metastesis. Unfortunately Ethan's LFT's remained too elevated to remain on protocol.

Scans were conducted in Vermont, as preparation for a new study. Results show even more progression to several area's in skull and soft tissue mass on spine. Radiation was conducted to the orbital area and spine, along with etoposide and velcade treatments. Biopsies were perfomed for DNA and RHA testing for Personalized Medicine Study in Vermont.

Well, today we received devastating news. The Brain tumor has more than doubled in size and is now causing focal seizures. They will do radiation for comfort only at this point. Things are not looking good for Ethan and he is in need of prayers and whatever happiness we could give him. Ethan & his sister sierra love to receive cards. If you could find the time to mail them a card, I am sure it would bring a smile to their face. Particularly Ethan, as he is in Boston Children's Hospital continuing with radiation. If you would like to mail them a card you may do so to:

Meet Bella Tucker

Bella Tucker is an 8-year-old girl who attends South School Elementary in Londonderry, New Hampshire and is a member of the Phantom Gymnastics team. Bella came down with a near fatal infection on Easter Sunday. Doctors gave little hope for this third graders’ survival, but after five days in a coma she miraculously survived Streptococcus Pneumonia Sepsis with DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation).

Unfortunately, her survival from this infection was not without significant cost. The infection caused extensive tissue damage, and on April 27, 2010, Bella underwent quadruple amputation surgery and is currently facing an extremely long and hard recovery at Children’s Hospital in Boston with extensive rehabilitation to follow, as she learns to live life without her limbs.

Fortunately, Bella has the love and support of her three older brothers and younger sister during these trying times. The family is suddenly faced with significant challenges, many of which can be eased with financial help. For example, their home in Londonderry, New Hampshire will need extensive modifications to accommodate a wheelchair. Bella's mother, who is also her primary insurance holder, must be by her side during the extensive rehabilitation process and therefore she will be unable to work, causing the family to lose significant income. Since her mother will be with her during this process, the family needs funds for daycare of their other children. Lastly, she will be faced with medical challenges for the rest of her life.

Bella loves receiving cards and they would be sure to make her smile. I am currently awaiting her address, but you may mail her cards to my address until further notice.

I know we all have some cards sitting around, it would mean so much if you could get one out to Ethan and Bella. They need all the smiles they can get right now!

Thanks so much

No stamping

While I am a day late and a dollar short here on this weeks CSAYL challenge -but  I did manage to make a card for this weeks challenge. It was a silly goof up - I am actually a week early on next week's challenge and was delayed with this weeks because I was over the moon that my teenage son just graduated.
So enough excuses on with the card:

This weeks challenge was to create a card with NO stamping.

All the goodies on this card are by Anna Griffin...isn't her paper and embellishments the best and most classy? I love all her stuff.

If you haven't been already please check out the CSAYL blog and see what the other DT members created - serious loveliness and if you have time why not play with us.

Hope your weekend is relaxful.

Hello...

Isn't she sweet?
Love the combo of colors - pink and green and purple. This is a squigglefly image that was perfect for this weeks PLETHERA of challenges...along with colors, buttons and flowers I was able to fit this cutie into a few challenges such as:

digi doodles: buttons
bee-crafty: digi image

I hope you are all having a fabulous week - we are preparing for my son's graduation on Thursday - I have to say it hasn't been a smooth road this year but I am so very thankful to know that in a couple of days he will walk the final walk and get rewarded for such an accomplishment. I can also say that I feel like it is a big day for me too. After 12 years of school, driving back and forth, projects, thousands of lunches made, freinds over, the "right" clothes for school, teacher conferences etc...I too am being honored in a way for helping him through it all and being his giuding light..is it wrong to feel like this is a privaledge for me too.
Actually, I am honored.

He's almost all growed up!

Card of Plenty

Hey there ya'll how the heck was your weekend?
Mine was nice. Spent a quiet weekend with my hubby and the little guy while the girls were out camping for 2 days-I missed them but I can't say it was peaceful because afterall we still have a little 3 year old running around doing stuff like this more than once this weekend.

Yup getting into the girls make-up arghhh!@!!

Anyway I had time to play and made this cool vintage card using a free image from this really cool new group I joined...Crafter's Digital Art Center...so many fun freebies for the challenge this month. Can't pass up such greatness. This card also works in the following challenges:
partytimetuesdays.blogspot.com - anything birthday
a spoonful of sugar - celebrations
tuesday taggers - touch feely texture

I used the vintage image from sugar creek hollow - from the CRAFTERS DIGITAL ART CENTER, I used some yummy paper from prima and I pulled out those dusty embossing cuttlebug folders for the textured brown CS...and added the best wishes stamp from the banner set by the STAMPS FOR LIFE...
Can you say YUP YUP!!!

If you have time visit all the links and check out all the fun creations people are submitting. Oh and don't forget the freebies at the CRAFTERS DIGITAL ART CENTER...

See ya tomorrow.

Oh So CHIC

I have been busy creating these really CHIC chipboard purse SCRAPBOOKS.

I am over the moon for these. I love the way they came out and the papers I chose really pushed them over the top. The crepe paper at the bottom happened by accident.

Some of the inside pages...cute eh?

Also in red, as any great purse company would do it right? one in every color (wink)

So the crepe fringe - on the front cover of the black album there was some schmeared glue and I needed to cover it up and well my usual stand in (prima flowers just wouldn't do) so I was looking for ribbon and nothing seemed to work. Then I saw this fringe and was thrilled-doesn't it just fit the fronts of the bags perfectly?
I love it!!!
What do you think?

Hope your weekend is going superbly!

Hawaiian Christmas???

Oh My WOW!!!
I am in Love with this weeks CSAYL challenge which is to make a CD holder-but I seem to have not read all the directions (good DT member huh?) this was suppose to be a cd christmas card holder DUR! I followed the directions inthe tutorial and didn't stray one bit hence the rule change! oops

I also - decided to choose Hawaiian Christmas colors - is there such a thing? I thought this would look great in pinks and used them and left the whole thing without a sentiment.
I made a few more and almost have them finished - I will share the photos when those are done.

Well don't forget to visit the CSAYL challenge blog and see the CARD version of this brilliant idea...the DT members will knock your socks off.

Have a great weekend.
